Caregiving of loved ones is not an easy task. Often we step up to help without truly understanding what will be required of us. Some times we aren’t sure what steps to take to provide needed support, care and safety - we just know they have a genuine desire to help. Caregiving is a journey and sometimes the road is not a straight path. As a caregiver who might be supporting loved ones with dementia, alzheimers, terminal illness or other life threatening illnesses, finding time to take care of yourself is critical. We learn as we go. We learn things not only about the person we care for but also about ourselves.

When was the last time you took a moment to slow down, to rest, to reflect on where this caregiving journey has taken you so far?

When have you had time to think about where the journey might go or, as some would say, might lead you?

On Saturday, June 22nd 2024, join us for a moment of pause and support, a time to take stock of your caretaking journey so far. This 3-hour workshop will provide an opportunity to share space with others on this road using the creativity inherent in us all. We will have time for individual reflections and shared conversations. We will use art-making as a way to tap into our inner source of knowing. We are all created creative. Bring your curiosity. No art skills necessary or required. This session will be facilitated by Jana Rickerson.

Jana Rickerson, LCSW (she/her) has been a professional caregiver for many years as a teacher, social worker, mentor and leader. She is currently caring for her aging parents, and is inspired to offer a creative community of support for other caregivers.
