Being and Becoming: A Jewish Studio Process Session for Parents of Teens

Wednesday, May 15

7:15-8:45 pm

Location: In-Peron, Berkeley CA

Cost: $0-$18

The teen years are a time of transition and becoming, not only for teens but also for those who parent them. Mindfulness and Creativity are powerful practices and perspectives to hold us as we hold our ever-changing, emerging 13-19 year olds.

Diving into the Torah of Creativity, we will explore, create, and play through:

  • Conversation around Jewish texts and contemporary literature related to creativity and parenting

  • A facilitated, intuitive experience with art materials

  • A process of inquiry through writing

Using the Jewish Studio Process - a unique methodology combining practices from the field of art therapy with a reimagined approach to Jewish learning and spirituality - we'll strengthen the pathways to our innate creativity, imagination, and wisdom to draw on in moments when we feel at a loss for how to effectively respond to our teen and to tap into our desires and dreams for our teens and for ourselves.

We’ll process all that we’re holding through artmaking, writing, mindfulness, and conversation so that we can be more present and compassionate with our teens and ourselves. This session will be facilitated by Rabbi Margie Jacobs.

This session is co-sponsored by Netivot Shalom.
